Axel Decor is a sculpture studio based in Los Angeles, founded by artist Alexander Archondakis. Every piece — from an 8-inch agave pup to a five-foot statement installation — is cut, shaped, welded, and finished by hand. No factories. No mass production. Each sculpture is made to order, which means when it arrives, it was made specifically for the space it's going into.
The work is rooted in the desert. Agaves, lotus flowers, blossoms — forms that hold their structure, weather beautifully, and command space without demanding attention. Steel was the natural material: durable enough to live outdoors permanently, honest enough to age on its own terms.
The Process
Each sculpture begins as raw industrial steel — cut and shaped by hand, then welded into form. The finishing process is where the character comes from. Patinas are applied by hand, layer by layer, which is why no two pieces look exactly alike even when they share the same color. The hand-brushing, the slight variation in tone, the texture that catches light differently at different times of day — that's the work.
Outdoor pieces are sealed with a clear coat enamel on request, which slows the natural weathering process for harsher climates. But left unsealed, the steel will evolve over time — deepening, shifting, becoming more itself. That's not a flaw. That's the material doing what it does.
Made to Order
Nothing at Axel Decor sits in a warehouse waiting to ship. Every order goes into the studio queue and gets made from scratch. Standard processing time is 3–5 business days. Larger statement pieces may take longer — if that's the case, it will be noted on the listing.
Made-to-order also means customization is genuinely possible. Different size, different finish, different color entirely — reach out before placing an order and Alexander will work with you directly to build what you need.
Custom Commissions
Beyond the standard catalog, Axel Decor takes on custom commission work for residential and commercial installations. Landscape architects, interior designers, and homeowners have brought specific briefs — a sculpture sized for a particular wall, a color matched to an existing palette, a piece scaled to anchor a full garden design. Axel Decor sculptures have been installed in private residences, patios, xeriscape gardens, pool areas, entryways, and commercial outdoor spaces across California and beyond. The pieces are designed for outdoor permanence — but they work equally well indoors, where the scale and materiality bring the same weight to a room that they bring to a landscape.
